It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to Vedantaa Institute of Medical Sciences, Dahanu in the Palghar district of Maharashtra. Our institute has begun in the year 2017 with a grand entry of 150 students in the MBBS course.

From the beginning, Vedantaa Institute of Medical Sciences, (VIMS) have acknowledged training, research, and clinical teaching as well as community services as their essential responsibilities. We aim for the utmost standards of accomplishment in the quality of our medical and health education, community services and research. The VIMS is affiliated with the well-established Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, Maharashtra. Within a short span, the institute has accomplished a striking achievement of securing postgraduate medical seats in all clinical and basic life-science disciplines. The current undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum is based on innovative guidelines by NMC, Delhi. The courses are developed as per adult learning principles offering both outstanding didactic education as well as wide-ranging experience in clinics, hospitals, and laboratories.

It is our vision to shape our medical education training in such a way that it highlights not just learning technically, but also appreciating the ethics and humanity of inspiring doctors. We are attending constantly to faculty development programmes in medical education technologies and research methodologies towards achieving excellence in teaching.

Our institute is situated in a rural set up of downtrodden and disadvantaged tribal (ADIVASI) who have pitiable access to health and medical services. The Medical students at VIMS get an opportunity to appreciate the judicious use of their knowledge as Basic Doctors in rural communities as well as the role of innovative recent advances. We enthusiastically organize guest lectures by distinguished senior teachers and researchers from India and abroad. Well-equipped library facility in VIMS fascinates students and faculties as well.

Our well-qualified and experienced teaching faculty understands the significance of engagement in medical technology and innovations. This will enable us in major improvement in patient care and offer sensible solutions towards improving service delivery.

Our objectives are to step up learning opportunities and innovations for our budding doctors in combating potential healthcare challenges like emerging lifestyle diseases in the rural population. At VIMS the learning prospect is unique as both traditional and modern clinical practices are explored. We at the VIMS recognize that medical science is not complete without awareness of social conduct, professionalism, patient-centeredness, character and self-respect.

I as a medical educationist and Dean look forward to enriching the personal and professional journey of our UG-PG students and faculty members in a reassuring environment.

With warm wishes,

Dr Shubhangi Raghunath Parkar
